Rebecca Spruce - not being judged

Good mental health and your overall wellbeing is something that BMF is truly passionate about. Rebecca, a BMF member from Swansea, has kindly shared her story with us to help raise awareness and educate others of a growing concern in our communities.

Living with depression is an ongoing chemical imbalance. It exposes you to be judged by others and this is difficult to live with. Before you realise it, you have isolated yourself from everyone, as that is easier.

I've been on anti depressants since my daughter died. I am now lucky to have two beautiful children, my son is autistic, which again opens us up to false judgements and criticism adding to my social exclusion.

BMF has changed all of this. Our instructor is motivating, inspirational and accepting of everyone. When I’m at a session I am able to be with like minded people, I become me. For that one hour, I am not a carer, a victim or a mother, I am just one of a team. I push myself physically and mentally and love the  camaraderie.

I will forever be indebted to PJ Ritchie for the enlightening experience that is BMF, and will never stop pushing myself to be the best that I can be.

On 16 August I turn 40, to celebrate I will be doing Tough Mudder, something I could never have envisaged before I became a BMF member. Thank you BMF.
