Margaret Dignum - age is no barrier

At 70 years of age, Margaret Dignum from Middlesex, has discovered a newfound addiction for fitness thanks to British Military Fitness (BMF). Margaret has lost three stone since joining BMF, and is a prime example of age being no barrier to improving your health and lifestyle.

SEEKING A NEW CHALLENGE IN LIFE

Margaret, a former receptionist originally from Middlesex, found herself feeling lonely and seeking a new challenge in life following her retirement seven years ago. After attending swimming sessions and a few fitness classes, a close friend of Margaret’s introduced her to BMF, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Now the super fit Cheltenham pensioner takes part in up to four sessions per week at Pittville Park, where she is accompanied by four friends and joined by many others with the same ‘addiction’ to the ‘boot camp style’ fitness classes.

Margaret explained: “Everyone says that when you get older you slow down. But, I have found when you push yourself you can do things you never thought were possible.

NOT JUST A GREAT WAY TO KEEP IN SHAPE, THEY’VE BEEN A WAY TO MEET NEW PEOPLE TOO

Starting BMF really has been life changing for me. When I retired, I weighed 11.5 stone and I am now down to 8.5 stone and feel fantastic. I’ve found that the BMF classes are not just a great way to keep in shape, they’ve been a way to meet new people too. After the classes we often get together at a pub or cafe, and even meet up on a weekend. The friendly atmosphere is part of the BMF way, where you get the support and banter of a team.”

“All the instructors are so friendly and make me feel special. I also train with a really nice group of people, they even bought me presents and a cake for my recent 70th birthday. When we go running, I’m a bit slower than some of the other people in my group but everyone is very motivating and we all help each other to reach our goals.”

The next challenge for Margaret is tom complete the Cheltenham Half Marathon on 7 September. She will be running it with her son, who is incidentally another BMF fanatic.
