Age is just a number - Great grandmother from Solihull hooked on BMF

“After six months of the military style training, Mary has lost three dress sizes and has even gone down two shoe sizes from a six to a four!”

When it was recommended that Mary Reilly, a 72-year-old great grandmother, tried BMF she never thought that six months later she would be an inspiration to others in the community to get fit. The former care worker for the elderly has lost a remarkable three stone and three dress sizes since joining BMF sessions in Brueton Park, Solihull and isn’t stopping there.

Mary, a keen walker who in the past has enjoyed swimming, badminton and going to the gym, was encouraged to give British Military Fitness sessions a try by her niece and jumped at the chance to try something different. After six months of the military style training, Mary has lost three dress sizes and has even gone down two shoe sizes from a six to a four! She is not taking it easy either, attending three sessions a week, with no sign of stopping.

Mary, from Solihull, says: “When my niece told me about BMF, I liked the idea, it sounded like a challenge and now I am hooked! My whole family has really got behind me and is very proud of what I’m doing. I have also made lots of new friends at the sessions as there is a real social element where we all motivate and support each other.

“I find exercising outside in the elements very liberating and the results the training has had on my fitness levels and physique have been incredible. I believe that age is just a number. I feel much healthier, happier and a real rush of pride when my daughter asks to borrow my jeans!”

Craig Kneebone, BMF Park Manager at Malvern and Brueton Park in Solihull, commends her saying, “Mary has become a real source of inspiration at the park and her determination is incredible. The transformation Mary has experienced since joining is extraordinary and she is a real success story. I’m proud to train Mary and think that she is a shining example that anyone can take part in, benefit from and enjoy military style fitness sessions.”
