Humans are designed to move but the modern world is becoming ever evolved to restrict the need for movement. We actually don’t operate well if we sit still. What’s more, we fully believe that you can’t run before you can walk. This is why we have developed Walkfit by BMF.
Why a class based on walking?
Walking is an excellent way to get fit and lose weight. That’s because it’s effective and it’s accessible for most people. Think of it this way – as long as you can walk, you can get fit and lose weight. So, we developed Walkfit; the ideal combination of low impact strength work and walking for fitness, meaning you can get fit and lose weight enjoyably.
Not only does it offer an achievable and effective way to exercise and lose weight, walking for fitness also combines socialising, fitness and the great outdoors – all recommendations for overall increased wellbeing. Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, says walking is “the closest thing we have to a wonder drug.
So what is Walkfit?
Walkfit is a fun, outdoor workout that has all the benefits of walking combined with simple body-weight and mobility exercises. It provides a great work-out that will help you lose weight and get fit. It’s fun, you can do it no matter your ability, and we’re sure you’ll love it.
Walkfit has many health benefits. It’s excellent for burning calories and losing weight because you’ll be doing a lot of movement. Walking is a great way to lose belly fat because it burns calories. And because Walkfit incorporates bodyweight exercises as well, you’ll be challenging your body with movements that will burn even more calories. Walkfit is an excellent solution for losing weight and getting in shape.
Blood circulation and heart health will also be improved by Walkfit. That’s because walking improves oxygen delivery to tissues. Walking helps blood flow throughout the body and the bodyweight exercises in Walkfit will help cardiovascular health still further because the heart’s higher work rate will be prolonged.
Our Walkfit classes are also great if an injury or illness means you can’t run. They’re low intensity and low impact. Classes mix in brisk walking with breaks for bodyweight exercises including; squats, adapted push-ups, partner games and resistance band exercises. It’s perfect for anybody who wants a workout that is fun, outdoors and achievable.
Walkfit burns calories, improves mobility, boosts circulation and keeps your heart healthy. It’s also a great way to make new friends or mix up other classes with something lower-intensity.
Here’s what people who do Walkfit think about it:
We’ve had an amazing reception to our Walkfit Classes. Below is just some of the glowing feedback the class has received.
Celia Corby, 68, says,
“I’ve made lots of friends, I’m healthier and in better shape. We’re usually having so much fun we don’t notice that the time has flown by. My arms are stronger so it’s enhanced my golf game too! It perks me up – my mind is clearer and I feel more energetic. That’s meant I’m doing some gardening and things around the house that I was just putting off before."
George Pownall, 74, says,
“It’s a very good habit to get into because at my age it would be easy to just sit in my armchair and read the newspaper. It’s friendly and sociable because we all know one another. I’m 74 now and getting a bit creaky, as people do at my age, but I’m certainly fitter than most people my age. It’s very friendly, and it’s also worth every penny – it’s very inexpensive. The instructors are also really terrific.”
Jean Hedden, 75, says,
“The exercises cover all parts of the body, together with hand and eye coordination routines. We are encouraged to work at our own speed and within our personal limitations. There’s no criticism of how much or how little we can achieve, so it’s a very encouraging and friendly community. And as many of us are local, we see each other out and about which helps the sense of community.”
