Too cold to exercise?
Although it’s tempting to snuggle up in the warm during the winter, it’s worth bracing the cold weather. Research shows that we benefit more from an outdoors fitness programme when the temperatures drop than we do in the heat. This is because our bodies are better able to tolerate activity in the cold, which means we can keep exercising for longer. We also burn more fat in cold weather.
This might explain why more people who join a British Military Fitness military bootcamp in the winter stay members for longer. The key is motivation and being properly prepared. British Military Fitness will provide the positive motivation and encouragement, all you need to do is turn up at the park for your fitness boot camp.
Wearing the right kit makes a difference too. Use a layering system, so that you can take surplus layers off, once you get too hot after starting your fitness programme. Use a non-cotton, high-wicking base layer that will keep moisture away from the skin and also keep you warm. Use a pair of gloves to keep you hands warm and dry and wear something on your head as you lose over 30% of your body’s heat through your head.
