Spring Clean Your Workout

OK, so you got through the painful torment of January, blinked and February was pretty much over. Now you ask yourself spring is here so what next?
Firstly, for those of you that came out in the cold and braved the elements be proud of yourself. Continuing with BMF during the cold, wet and the dark months of winter takes a lot of drive, and everyone at BMF takes their hat (well, beret) off to you.
Secondly know that the worst is now over. As we progress with pace into Spring the weather is going to get better, the ground drier, the wind less harsh and the sun shining during a session will give us even more of a happy, fuzzy feeling after a class.
You will also find that as you have trained through the winter months you have built a good base level of fitness, which will help your body adapt more easily to some new challenges.
As the season changes, so must you! Put some spruce up your fitness routine by trying something new at BMF. Here are my top three suggestions:
1. Go up a bib colour, whether it be from a blue to a red, or from a red to the dreaded green – even if it’s just for one session. You’ll find that it’s not as tough as you think and you may even surprise yourself. Remember that our instructors are there to pitch the class at the right level, so if you are worried about being the slowest runner or the least strong on the exercises don't worry! It means that we, as instructors can give more exercises out to the rest of the group while you catch your breath.
2. Check out other venues. Look at where else you can try BMF and add a bit of variety to your sessions. In most towns and cities we have a choice of venues and if you travel further afield for work or pleasure you can try BMF in another part of the country.. As instructors we love to see new faces at the park. You may even find that the class times work better for you, or that you prefer the layout or scenery of those parks.
3. Try an event. BMF runs some fantastic events throughout the year. The great thing about them is that they are accessible for ALL and NO extra training is necessary. If you can get through a blue class you are perfectly able to do the 5k Major. If you are a red devil or a green machine then you will be fine to get through the 10k and maybe have a focus on finishing in a particular time.
Whatever extra challenges you choose to give yourself this spring to boost your motivation, the very least we expect of you is to keep turning up to our parks, prepare to have fun, enjoy the finer weather. We will do the rest.
