Music to get you moving

Get your iPods and mp3 players ready to download because I’ve been checking out the best tracks to get you moving this summer!! Nothing gets your heart and mind pumping in unison like a great tune, for me personally I love to train to a track like AC/DCs THUNDERSTUCK…ROCK.
Now apparently there’s more to be said for running to music than just listening to your favorite tunes….
A website [OPEN "http://www.run2r.com/" "run2rhythm"] claim the following benefits-
• Gives run cadence control.
• Puts bounce in your step.
• Help simulate speeds required to achieve run/race goals ie. if your aim is to complete a 10km run in 50 minutes, selecting our music with 166 BPM will simulate the pace required.
• will help you avoid injuries and illness so frequently common among runners due to “over-use” and “over-training” during fitness courses.
• Helps the breathing pattern become more relaxed thus more efficient oxygen intake.
• Keeps the cadence correct and reinforces the ‘effort/relax’ aspect of ideal running – something running to HR (heart rate) and pace cannot do.
• Helps the muscles to relax during a long run resulting in better capillary blood flow and less muscle fatigue after fitness courses.
• Improves the ability to use fat as a fuel source.
• Will improve the muscle’s ability to store glycogen.
• Helps you find the mind and body meld that puts you ‘in the zone’.
• Makes you feel good.
PHEW….
There are a lot of claims there that quite frankly most of us have been doing for quite sometime without any music, but ….it must be said it will put a bounce in your step, get you in the zone and most important of all make you feel good!!
So my Top 10 tracks...
(This is my take on it and is not backed up by thousands of online votes just a few marines or Para’s…)
WORKING ON A DREAM (by Bruce Springsteen) for Warming up!
SHOOT TO THRILL (by AC/DC)
EYE OF THE TIGER (by Survivor)
UNINVITED (by FREEMASONS)
YOU KNOW MY NAME (by Chris Cornell)
ROCK AND ROLL (by Led Zeppelin)
TIMES LIKE THESE (by Foo Fighters)
THUNDERSTRUCK (by AC/DC)
(If you’re not running fast now consider going back to bed)
RUNNING WILD (by Airbourne)
WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS (by Led Zeppelin) for cooling down
There are literally thousands of great tracks to run to and as you can see this is my personal 10 of the best. And I understand not all you will know let alone enjoy listening to Brian Johnson wailing into your ears but it will definitely increase your pace during fitness courses… Guaranteed!
I hope you all take up the challenge to get out and into the fresh air this summer!!!
See you in the park.
