Engaging in exercise! Bride-to-be celebrates her hen-do with BMF

When most women picture their hen-do, they might envision many ways of spending the event: a relaxing spa day, a crazy night of clubbing or maybe a fun trip abroad. However, one hen party decided to buck the trend of L plates and feather boas, opting for a less traditional and much more active affair, with British Military Fitness. Bride-to-be, Jojo Howard from Cheltenham turned the typical hen do on its head to take part in a military style fitness session alongside her 22 friends.

The hens, who ranged in age from 25 to 35, travelled to Bath for the session in Royal Victoria Park, where they took part in many activities, including warm up games, team relays, team building activities, a tug of war and ball games during the session.

Lorna Croucher, 31, was one of four bridesmaids who organized the hen do. She commented: “We wanted to do something outdoors, that was fun and inexpensive for Jojo’s hen do and we wanted it to be just for our group. We all met at university 10 years ago when we studied Physical Education so there were loads of sporty PE teachers and girls interested in fitness on the hen do - Jojo is always up for anything too and she loved it.”

“The BMF instructors, Colin and Terry, made it so much fun and made sure everyone was included – we all had such a laugh and after finishing the class, we headed to a spa in town for some well deserved relaxation!”

Colin Clarke, British Military Fitness instructor at Bath, commented: “When Lorna approached us asking to help organise a hen do with a difference, we were more than happy to oblige! It was great to see all the hens having so much fun at the session, and we made sure to include lots of games and team building activities to encourage team bonding in the group. It’s a great and easy way to get all your friends together and having fun, and a brilliant way to break the ice among the hens that don’t know each other as well.”
