BMF instructors in Gloucester help local pupils to get military fit

Our instructors in Gloucester have visited Field Court Junior Academy to educate pupils on what a career in the military involves. The 75 pupils were given a talk about life in the army, which was followed by a series of military style fitness sessions.

The pupils, aged between 4-7, took part in a variety of challenges that were designed to represent a typical day in the army, led by BMF instructors David McDowell and Jason Field. These began with ‘waking up’ and putting on their army uniform, followed by marching to the armory and completing patrol exercises and finally completing assault courses and, of course, crawling through mud.

The sessions form part of the school’s series of extreme style challenges, starting with the army, which aim to educate pupils on the importance of health and fitness.

British Military Fitness Instructor, David McDowell, commented:

“The day was a huge success for us and I know the children all had a great time taking part in the exercises. It’s so important to educate the younger generation on the importance of regular exercise and it’s great that we’ve been able to do this, while letting them have a bit of fun at the same time!”

Fellow Instructor Jason Field added:
“We’ve already had some fantastic feedback from the school and the pupils responded to the exercises really positively. Field Court Junior Academy is already looking at further sessions with us and it’s definitely something we would love to be involved with again.”
