Tips for an Efficient Workout

Summer is on the horizon, National Outdoor Fitness Day is approaching, so we thought we’d give you a helping hand to get the most out of your outdoor workout with British Military Fitness.

Showing up to British Military Fitness is only half the battle – to get results you’ll have to do the work. Keep these tips in mind to get the most out of every class.

Prep right: Wear comfortable workout clothes, trainers (preferably a pair with good grip), and gloves for the colder months. . Feeling like you’re not quite up to speed? Try practicing moves outside of class - do some exercises in the park — all you need is a bench and your body weight.

Know your strength and trust you body: Make sure the group you chose (blue - beginner, red - intermediate or green - advanced) matches your fitness level but at the same time pushes you to improve, and don’t be afraid speak up if an exercise is too difficult. In the winter months it will be dark if you’re training at night so learn to trust your body and the instructor’s knowledge of the park.

Rest only when needed: To see real results you’ll have to defeat your toughest opponent - yourself. While exercising there will be a non-stop voice in your head begging you to stop, telling you that you’ve done enough, or trying to convince you to half-ass each rep – overcome that voice by giving your all and proving it wrong.

Be a team player: BMF classes are all about group camaraderie. Greet fellow BMFer’s with a smile and don’t be shy about shouting out encouragements. We guarantee they’ll do the same.
