BROTHERS TAKE ON 100KM CYCLE AND MAJOR SERIES FOR CHARITY

In efforts to raise thousands of pounds for a young, local girl with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, brothers James, Paul, and Richard Luetchford, and their close family friend, Chris Murphy, are putting their stamina and fitness to the test. They are cycling 100-miles from their homes in Sandwich, Kent to Tunbridge Wells, where they will put their bodies through another challenge: the BMF 10km Major Series.

The adventurous foursome is embarking on the challenge in March to raise money for Ruby Laura Young. Just after her second birthday Ruby was diagnosed with stage four, high-risk Neuroblastoma; an aggressive childhood cancer. Since diagnosis, the local community has rallied in support of Ruby and her family. Donations to Ruby’s fundraising page have now surpassed the £120,000 mark.

With the help of the Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance (NCCA), the family is hoping to get specialist treatment for Ruby in the USA, which will cost approximately £500,000. The NCCA helps parents and children access potentially life-saving treatment, whilst supporting research into new and internationally available treatments.

The outstanding efforts made by James, Paul, Richard and Chris – who have been in intense training for weeks and hope to raise thousands of pounds – will come as another welcome donation, as the Young family looks forward with hope and support from the local community.

James Luetchford, 35, commented: “We’re really excited to get on the road. Our preparation is now in full flow as we’re cycling 50-60 miles a week. It’s going to be really gruelling, but it will all be worthwhile when we see the impact our fundraising has on Ruby and her family.”

Nice work boys!
