BMF: Sandra's Story #BeBMF

Written by Bonnie Hatcher | 19-Jul-2016 14:54:37

A couple of weeks ago, long-standing British Military Fitness (BMF) member, Sandra, invited us into her home to show us how she fits BMF classes into her bustling family life. Aside from a brief stint as a red 'intermediate level' bib (when she fancied an instructor), Sandra has been regularly attending three BMF sessions a week for the past seven years as a blue 'entry level' bib - blue to match her eyes, she claims! With Sandra, "the fun never stops", as she busies herself with her two sons, her flower shop job of "delivering joy and happiness", and a hectic social life - both in and out of BMF.

After the filming, we caught up with Sandra to find out how she found the day:

BMF: Why did you get involved in the #BeBMF campaign?
Sandra: I wanted to be involved in this video because I love BMF! I was part of the BMF photo shoot in the summer and had such a good time “modelling” so jumped at the chance to do it again. I really want to spread the word and let people know BMF is for everybody!

BMF: Did you have any worries before the day?
Sandra: I had no worries at all. In fact, I was just really excited and looking forward to our day together! The photographer, James, was so nice and he explained what he wanted really well. We worked well together!

BMF: Did the video truly reflect a normal day for you?
Sandra: It was a completely normal day. Everything was part of my usual daily routine - I tend to go to a 6:30am BMF class but it worked better for the filming to go slightly later and I still knew plenty of the members and instructors. There were actually barely any retakes and nothing was staged. Sometimes I even forgot James was there! I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing...sorry James!

BMF: What were the highlights from the day?
Sandra: We laughed throughout the whole day! There were so many funny moments - the smiles in the video are all completely real. I am so happy when I do BMF and you can probably tell this from the final edit!

BMF: What did your friends and family think about you doing the video?
Sandra: They think it's great! They all think it’s amazing that I do BMF anyway and the video is just an extension of that. Hopefully it'll encourage a few of them to join me!

BMF: What do you think of the finished video?
It's great, isn't it! Although it's strange hearing my voice - is that really how I sound?!

I am so happy that you asked me to be part of this project and I hope it will make more people realise that BMF is really for everyone!!

I had a great time and as I said before: I love BMF!

If you have any questions for Sandra, she'll be taking over BMF Twitter until Friday 22nd July, so will be on hand to answer any questions. Just be sure to use #BeBMF in your tweet.
