British Military Fitness leads the way with its commitment to recruiting Service Leavers

The UK's undisputed leader in outdoor fitness, British Military Fitness (BMF) has been presented with a national recognition for its efforts and commitment to employing Service Leavers in a recent awards ceremony demonstrating the achievement of Service Leavers and employers who support them.

The Nationwide Resettlement Awards celebrates the achievements of Service Leavers who have progressed and developed throughout the transition between life in the Armed Forces to life as a civilian, and acknowledges the efforts and support from organisations helping the Service Leaver through this period of time.

BMF was shortlisted for two of the categories, including The FRS Award for the Employer Committed to Employing Service Leavers, and The Pathfinder International magazine Award for Service Leavers' Training Company of the Year.

The FRS Award for the employer who has demonstrated most commitment to employing service leaders saw BMF take reign, ticking all the boxes through award nominations which looked at; efforts made to recruit Service Leaders specifically, recognition to the high skill-set of Service Leavers, career development of Service Leavers and percentage of workforce made up of Service Leavers.

BMF currently employs 500 ex or serving members of the Armed Forces to deliver outdoor fitness across the UK at 140 different sites, and makes every effort to continually recruit ex Armed Forces members by partnering with the CTP, attending BFRS fairs and with the BMF Academy which offers fitness qualifications for ex-Service personnel.

The BMF Academy is open to anyone who is interested in entering the fitness industry, or expanding on existing qualifications. Its primary aim is to raise the standard of fitness education by delivering the highest quality of training throughout a range of courses, which are accredited through Active IQ – one of the UK's leading awarding organisations and the Register of Exercise Professionals.

Harry Sowerby, Managing Director at British Military Fitness, said: "It's amazing for British Military Fitness to be recognised for its efforts and commitment to recruiting and working with Service Leavers and we'd like to thank everybody who helped us to achieve this award.

"Our 500+ instructors across the country are ex or serving military, and we do a lot of work with our staff and charities to support our current employees and new recruits throughout what may be difficult times."

BMF is aiming to inspire positive change in people's lives by bringing them together to get active and healthy. There are over 400 classes every week, in 140 parks nationwide and can accommodate for all fitness levels.
